Golden Macaroni and Cheese

  • breadcrumbs (or panko)
    1/4-1/2 c
  • butter (optional)
    2 tbsp
  • cheddar cheese
    4 c
  • flour
    4 tbsp
  • garlic powder
    1/2 tsp
  • macaroni (about two cups)
    8 oz
  • milk
    2 c
  • onion salt
    1/2 tsp
  • pepper
    1/2 tsp

  • 8x8 baking dish

    Cook macaroni until slightly underdone.
    macaroni: 8 oz (about two cups)

    Mix together milk , flour , onion salt , garlic powder , and pepper .
    milk: 2 c, flour: 4 tbsp, onion salt: 1/2 tsp, garlic powder: 1/2 tsp, pepper: 1/2 tsp

    Stir in cheddar cheese .
    cheddar cheese: 3 c

    Mix cooked macaroni with cheese mixture in a lightly greased 8x8 baking dish .

    Bake at 350 until for about ⏱️ 20 minutes .

    Stir and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and remaining cheddar cheese . >Use more breadcrumbs if adding butter, less if not.

    Drizzle with butter if desired.

    Return to oven and finish cooking until golden brown for another ⏱️ 15-20 minutes .
